Canna Pet Review – Read Before Buying

Customer Service

As more information becomes available about the potential benefits of CBD for both people and pets, many people are exploring the ways they can potentially improve their health. But what about your pets? Did you know that there are also CBD products readily available for our furry friends?

Just like us, pets can suffer from a variety of conditions and diseases that CBD may be able to help with. In the search to provide comfort for our companions, many have turned to CBD to help treat their pets, too.

A number of these veterinarians have even started recommending the use of CBD oil for cats and dogs. Senior pets prone to arthritis, inflammatory conditions and pain are especially good candidates for this treatment option, as they may begin to experience more ailments as they age, many of which are “treatable” but not curable. As always, consult your veterinarian before beginning CBD oil treatments with your fur baby.

One company that offers CBD products for pets is Canna Pet. This article offers a comprehensive review of the company and the different products it offers, as well as if it is a good investment.

What is Canna Pet?

CBD oil is used for pets for a few different reasons, but there are two main categories:

  1. Nutrition
  2. Health Conditions

While many companies now offer products geared towards pets, Canna-Pet was one of the first to explore this market. This gives them an edge in creating innovative new CBD products for pets.

Canna Pets offers tips for helping keep your pets healthy through the use of their products. They also place a focus on charitable assistance, offering a 50% discount to shelters and other animal charities. This is a company with a good heart that truly wants to improve the lives of animals everywhere.

The products offered on Canna Pet’s website are full spectrum, meaning that other cannabinoids are present within legal limits. This allows the product to be more potent without giving your pet any unwanted highs. With THC kept at below 0.2% in all products, Canna Pet is legal to buy and use.

Canna-Pet has been researching CBD-based pet products for about 30 years. A survey produced by the 2016 Colorado State University College of Veterinary Medicine showed a 93 percent rate of preference for Canna Pet products over other pet-related CBD products.

Ailments Canna Pet Claims to Help With

When you go to the Canna Pet website, there is a list of ailments you can search to find the best product for treating your pet. Canna Pet has a wide list of conditions to search through, including:

  • Aggressive pet behavior
  • Anxiety
  • Bad breath
  • Asthma
  • Grieving pets
  • Blindness
  • Cancer
  • Diarrhea
  • Fever
  • Epilepsy
  • Horse colic
  • Hypothyroidism
  • Inflammatory Bowel Disease
  • And more…

Just like humans, our pets suffer from a wide variety of physical and mental ailments. These may be present from a younger age or become onset with age. CBD products can also help improve the look of a pet’s skin and coat.

Is it Okay to Treat Your Pets with CBD?

Pets can benefit from the use of CBD oil. Just like humans, other mammals have an endocannabinoid system, as well. This is a natural system already present in the body that interacts with inflammatory systems and immune systems to keep the body functioning. Many humans and animals are actually deficient in cannabinoids, which is why the use of CBD oil can be helpful. CBD oil helps the endocannabinoid system increase cannabinoid production, allowing this system to more efficiently perform its job.

CB1 and CB2 receptors are found throughout the body and can help manage a variety of issues, both physical and mental. This science is what makes CBD oil a good form of treatment. CBD oil activates these cannabinoid receptors.

Because dogs and cats are smaller than humans, they can experience the benefits of CBD oil more. It takes a much smaller dose to treat our furbabies than it does to treat ourselves.

CBD is not “Pot”

Marijuana is still illegal. What makes marijuana, however, is the female cannabis plant, where high amounts of THC are concentrated. CBD is derived from the male cannabis plant, such as the stalk. Hemp-derived CBD is completely legal.

While the product is a “whole plant” solution, the amount of THC contained in these products must remain under state levels to be legal, meaning that there will not be enough to cause a high in your pet.

Pets Ailments that CBD Oil May Help

Our pets suffer from many of the same health conditions that we do. Some issues that CBD oil may be able to help your pets with include:

  • Arthritis
  • Inflammation
  • Cancer
  • Chronic pain
  • Joint pain
  • Anxiety
  • Appetite issues
  • Terminal illnesses
  • Epilepsy, seizure, tremors
  • Multiple sclerosis

While CBD oil is processed differently by each person (or pet), there are many customer reviews from Canna Pet claiming to show positive changes.

What to Look for in CBD Pet Products

When getting ready to treat your pet with CBD oil, there are three important items to research before purchasing your CBD products.

  1. Mixing agents – Sometimes, CBD oils are combined with mixing or flavoring agents that can be harmful to pets. Avoid ethanol, peppermint, and propylene glycol.
  2. Sourcing – CBD and hemp are sometimes imported from other countries for cheap, but these products are not as potent. It is best to find organic CBD and hemp produced in the United States, particularly Colorado, Oregon, and Denver.
  3. Amount of CBD – Higher dosages of CBD may be more effective depending on the condition and goal. You also want to be sure that there is not too much CBD per dose.

Products Offered by Canna Pet

The company offers CBD products in many forms to satisfy any picky pets! With a wide variety of products to choose from, Canna Pet has a firm grasp on the market.

There are medicinal ways to give CBD oil to your pets, as well as treat forms. Products are available for horses and smaller pets, as well.

1) Pet Capsules

The first product is a pill that pets can use, but Canna Pet does not disclose how much CBD is in each pill.

  • The capsules can be taken by pets that weigh 20 pounds or less.
  • These are to be taken twice a day.
  • The Advanced Capsules are $57 for a bottle of 60, a really good price.
  • Capsules can be hidden in treats or broken open and sprinkled over food.

2) Treats

Because Canna Pet does not disclose how much CBD is in each biscuit, the price of the item is difficult to decipher.

  1. Each package has 40 biscuits.
  2. Each package only costs $16.99.
  3. Biscuits may not contain much CBD, or they may just be a really good price.
  4. Be aware that treats do contain peanut flour, which may be an issue for pets or owners with allergies.
  5. Treats are offered in a few different flavors.

3) Liquid Options

Canna Pet also offers CBD oil in liquid form. For humans, this is one of the more effective ways of consuming CBD oil, so it is an option worth exploring with your pet, as well. Oils may be difficult to administer, as they are given orally.

4) Bundles

If you would like to try more than one CBD option, there are also bundle packages available. This is great for the undecided pet owner who would like to explore the different ways you can give CBD to your pet, or the owner who wants to use multiple methods of CBD.

Does Canna Pet Auto Ship?

There are options to auto ship, and you can also make single orders. Auto ship options include:

  • Every two weeks
  • Every four weeks
  • Every 28 days
  • Every 30 days

Despite positive customer reviews, the company has experienced some negative press.

Issues with Canna Pet

Every business has issues, and Canna Pet deals with three in particular. None of these issues are particularly harmful, although they can be disconcerting.

One of the major issues that most CBD-related companies have to deal with is the presence of the FDA, or the Food and Drug Administration. While this organization exists to protect American consumers from dangerous products and bad business practices, CBD companies struggle with the FDA as CBD is only recently becoming legalized.

Back in 2015, Canna Pet received a warning letter from the FDA for asserting that their medicines were drugs, like over-the-counter pharmaceuticals. This may explain why Canna Pet does not disclose how much CBD is in each product. However, this causes the second major issue with Canna Pet.

Lack of Product Information

Labels are scarce to non-existent on Canna Pet products, and the lack of product information leads consumers to wonder what may be in these products. The company does state the product contains hemp, but there is no information about dosage, sourcing, or what cannabinoids are present. Canna Pet also does not have lab reports available to browse, where most CBD certified companies do.

What we do know is that Canna Pet uses organic hemp, along with added terpenes and flavonoids, in their capsules. The treats contain organic hemp and organic barley flour, with different ingredients based on flavor.

While there are areas on the website devoted to ingredients and product information, the information is incomplete. It does, however, provide an idea of what is in each product. Canna Pet does claim to use organic and certified products that are backed up with lab results, but these are not posted anywhere on the website.

Customer Service Issues

Some customers have had negative experiences with Canna Pet’s customer service. Confirmation emails do not always arrive, the customer service team is not quickly responsive, and wrong orders are sometimes shipped.

Potential Canna Pet Side Effects

As with any medicinal option, Canna Pet products that contain CBD may cause side effects in your pet. The most reported side effects include:

  • Drowsiness
  • Lethargy

That is all! For potential side effects, this vastly outweighs the issues that many pets experience. Many times, pharmaceutical solutions cause worse side effects than these. If your pet exhibits an uncomfortable amount of drowsiness or lethargy, cease giving them CBD products and contact your vet.

Some pet owners are concerned with the lack of information, while others are enthused with the results their pets have seen on the products.

Is Canna Pet Right for Your Furry Friend?

Overall, Canna Pet is a safe option to test for your pet. The complaints against Canna Pet are few. The most concerning issue is the lack of disclosed ingredients, but there do not seem to be any major issues arising from this concern. The products appear to be safe for pets.

Canna Pet also has a large list of charities and animal organizations that they work with, along with being highly recommended by some veterinarians. They also link to news articles that have reported on their company, so there is no issue learning about their reputation. While their lab reports are not available online, they do link to many general CBD studies that show the purported effectiveness of these kinds of treatments.

The most common complaint is a tired or lethargic pet. This could be from overdosing. It may be smart to start with a smaller dose, such as breaking open half a capsule over food, and increasing it if necessary.

Many pet owners experience positive effects using Canna Pet products. If your pet is suffering from an ailment listed earlier in this article, and traditional treatments are not helping, you may want to look into or other CBD oil pet products.

As mentioned before, everyone, including animals, respond to CBD differently. What works for one pet may not work for another, so the only real way to know is to find a company that demonstrates sound business practices to purchase your CBD from. The prices at Canna Pet are cheaper than other options, so if you are not sure if this is what you want for your pet, it may be a good starting point. Remember to always consult your vet regarding the use of CBD products for your pet.
